Hamilton Harbour:

Hamilton High Level Bridge

Hamilton High Level Bridge

Despite what the weather reports had been calling for, the weather this past Sunday night was gorgeous.  There was a cool breeze and a warm glow from the setting sun.  On many occasions I have driven down Highway 403 and admired the high level bridge spanning the railway tracks, but have never really taken a close look.  Well today was the day.  I parked along York Blvd and ventured down the bank to the base of the bridge.  Not only is it interesting to look at, but the stairs leading down to the water and the surrounding trails make for a fun afternoon of hiking around.

Architecture of Hamilton:

I had lived in Hamilton for nearly 20 years and was aware of the beauty of it's architecture, but had never really taken the time to stop and take a closer look.  The weather, having finally turned in our favour, I grabbed my camera and did a little walkabout of the downtown area.  One just has to 'look up' to see what I mean.

For example, this is a shot of the court house on Main Street.  It is an example of modern architecture.

By contrast, this is a magnificent building on the corner of Main and James Street; the Landed Banking and Loan Co.  This building has been home to many businesses and if memory serves, this was once the home of the National Trust.
